On the occasion of the 11th UN Chinese Language Day, Chinese language learners from CIAQU celebrated the festival by reciting Chinese poems.
In 2010, the United Nations announced the launch of the Language Days. This initiative aims to celebrate the use of multiple languages and cultural diversity and to promote the equal use of the six official languages of the UN. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the six official languages of the UN.
April 20 is "Guyu," one of the 24 Chinese solar terms. The date was chosen as the Chinese Language Day by the UN to pay tribute to Cang Jie, who is presumed to have invented Chinese characters.
