On December 10th, 2019, the closing ceremony of the International Chinese Language Education Conference was held in Changsha, Hunan Province. The theme of the conference is “Innovation and Development of International Chinese Language Education in the New Era”. Over 1,000 representatives from more than 160 countries had heated discussions on deepening reform of systems, enriching education resources, improving quality of school-running and promoting diversified development.

Mr. Layth Arafa, AQU assistant to the President for Communication and Development, participated in the conference together with Dr. Shadi Abuzarqa, Counsellor of Palestinian Embassy to China, also Director of CIAQU.

During the conference period, Mr. Layth Arafa met with Prof. Mei Guoping, President of Jiangxi Normal University, AQU Chinese partner university for the Confucius Institute program. The two sides exchanged ideas on the preparations of CI inauguration ceremony to be held on December 16th.

Mr. Layth Arafa and Dr. Shadi Abuzarqa also met with Ms. Kong Jia, program officer from the division of development and planning, CI headquarters. Mr. Layth Arafa updated the developments of CIAQU, in particular, the upcoming inauguration ceremony.
